Mag'oki Attor.
Assalomu aleykum everyone👋
Today 7th of practice day. Our teacher Nigora Kuldasheva asked information about Mag'oki Attor. And today's weather is hot. And today they came to check from education.
Let's talk👇
Magoki Attori Mosque is a monument of medieval architecture, a historical columned-domed mosque in Bukhara dating back to the 12th-16th centuries. It is more than 4.5 meters below the ground level. It is famous for its carved decorations. It is the oldest among the monuments of Bukhara that have survived to this day. It is called Magoki Attori Mosque due to its location in Magok (deep) and near the attor markets
It was rebuilt in the 12th century on the site of the old 4-pillar Moh mosque (9th century) based on an old project (discovered in 1934 as a result of archaeological research). It was repaired in the 14th century, and the upper part of the facade was damaged in the 15th century.
In 1993, the "Historical Center of Bukhara" was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List of Uzbekistan, and now the Museum of Carpet Products is located in its place.
It is usually ascended by stairs when entering buildings. But in Bukhara, the opposite can be observed in the monuments - they go down the stairs. The older the monument, the stronger the cultural layers around it. It seems as if you are entering the depths of history through the steps.
The first mosques were established in Movarounnahr (which the Arabs called Mesopotamia of Central Asia) during the occupation of some of its territories by the Arabs, moreover, only in the main cities in order to convert the population to a new faith. In Bukhara, the Mag'oki Attori mosque was built on the site of the former fire place.
Today's practice day is over🙃
Goodbye👋
